and now that April Fool's is past us...

Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter or Passover and April Fools' as well. I know I did. (evil grin)

Seriously, though - now that that's past us, a note to let you all know I'm still alive. The aforementioned vacation was nice except for the last day, when I was just leaving town. A friend of mine was following me part of the way, and I glanced back in the rearview to see another car smashing into hers. Everyone was okay - one person was in shock - but that scared me to death. If not for anti-lock brakes, it would have been a lot worse.

I've let out most of my driving rant on the Sluggy Freelance boards, so I won't repeat it here. But consider this: both drivers were intelligent human beings who were not under the influence of any kind of drug, were fully awake, and just DID NOT PAY ATTENTION. I've met far worse drivers out there, believe me.

So when you get on the road today, watch yourself and watch out for others. And pay attention, please. Don't pull a stunt on the assumption that the other car will see you and get out of your way. You don't have to drive like your grandmother - you just have to realize that the majority of other people on the road are as out-of-it as you are.

Oh, and while I'm on the subject, some rules for tailgaters:
1) If you can pass, pass already. You'll have a better chance of getting somewhere.
2) If the person in front of you slams on their brakes and you hit them, it is AUTOMATICALLY your fault. Even if they're morons who don't bother with a turn signal or gradual braking.
3) 90% of the time, when you tailgate other cars, the other driver's reaction is to SLOW DOWN. Especially if it's a small car.
4) If the driver in front of you is only going the speed limit because the caravan of cars in front of them won't go any faster, attaching yourself to their back bumper will not have any effect.
5) The driver in front of you may be going the limit for a reason. Two words: "Speed trap." (I've had tailgaters fly around me before only to be caught up the road by a speed trap that I suspected was there. It happens.)

Anyway, back to the point. (I had a point?)

Because of that accident, and because of other craziness, I really did not feel much like writing. So, yes, I'm still revising "Sharp Edges."

As for the status of the page revamp... eh. I'm sticking with Paint Shop for the time being; maybe I can get a copy of Photoshop that my computer can handle. I refuse to upgrade my PC.

Why, you ask? Well, if I get more memory and speed, I'll have to get a new system. Which means I'll be stuck with another operating system that eats up so much more system resources that I won't even notice the upgrade. I'm tempted to get a Mac.
