Whew.

Remember the speeding ticket I got in June when I didn't notice the lunatic I was trying to get away from was racing me? Just got back from traffic court all the way out in Frederick.

I was sitting there, listening to the judge interrogate practically everyone who came up to defend themselves, and was tempted to just go down and pay the fine before he could rip me a new one.

Then my name was called and I went up to the desk.

The officer who gave me the ticket? He was nowhere to be found. The judge dismissed the case. No fine, no points, no questions.

I am SO incredibly lucky.

And you can bet I watched my speed the entire trip home. (I think I saved several people from getting picked up, too - it's great to watch tailgaters see the speed trap and IMMEDIATELY back off...)

Ha ha!! Good for you.

That is SO awesome! The cop must have had something really important to do. Cops here never miss those, cuase they want to get their ridiculous overtime for showing up to those. Corrupt Cleveland. . .I don't love it.

Congratulations!!! :D

Actually, cops in MD occasionally miss those. My mother got her first speeding ticket ever about 10 years ago, and the cop showed up... but he wouldn't have shown up if she was his only ticket there. (She was going 3 miles over the 40 mph limit downhill, she had a clean record, you get the idea.)

Unfortunately, he also had to be there for this other guy, who he'd picked up doing 75 mph on that same 40 mph road. The moron pleaded "not guilty" ... Mom didn't stick around to hear the rest of it, but it probably wouldn't have been pretty.

I'm just relieved he didn't show. Because of my accident last August, I know the judge wouldn't have cut me any slack otherwise.

Hey, I'd have paid the fine, no questions asked - it's the POINTS that worried me. That would have messed up my insurance big time.

Sorry - wasn't suggesting you wouldn't have done. Just that I remember you being worried about the points - so I sort of assumed the points had gone the way of the fine/were wrapped up with the fine hence not going to be applied to your license. Hence good :)

Congratualtions. What a relief.
