Take me out to the.... *thud*

Went to the Orioles game tonight since it was Student Night again and $5 is a pretty good price. The O's actually beat Anaheim, 6-5. And it was a pretty close game, too. I think they went through seven pitchers and had to rely on Jorge Julio's fastballs to keep the lead in the ninth. No streakers this time, but there was a "Thank you, Captain Obvious!" moment at the end: they declared Tony Batista as the player of the night at the end.

Well, let's see here: first time at bat, bases loaded, Batista hit a home run out of the park. Then in the 8th inning, he hit ANOTHER homer. That's 5 out of the 6 runs. Yeah. I think that made sense. (Oh, and Brian Roberts won the "Doh!" award of the evening. He walked to first, then decided to steal second and was out before he got halfway to second base - even I could see it was a bad time to do that.)

And the fireworks afterwards were cool, too.

As you can probably tell, I'm about to crash. More tomorrow afternoon. Maybe.

Alas, Melvin Mora. I knew him, Mandi...

You can keep Fordyce, though.

I actually watched most of that game on ComCast, the Orioles being my favorite American League team, and second favorite overall. Growing up and spending the vast majority of the first 22 years of my life in the Tidewater area, our Triple A Tides always gave the Mets a home team feel for me.

I still want to go to Camden Yards once before I die.

Meh, Fordyce didn't really screw up that time. (He didn't duplicate the Geronimo Gil ball-drop of the last game I went to.)

Go on a Student Night, one of the Fridays where they charge you $5 if you say you're a student. Get someone with a student ID (even an outdated one), have them buy the tickets and say they're waiting for someone. They don't even check.

My stepdad now wants to somehow get me tickets to an Ironbirds game (Ripken's team in Aberdeen). Frankly, I think he's just happy that there's someone else who will go to a game with him and have a clue what's going on... ;)
