Repeat the mantra...

"I will not mess with iMovie on a weeknight."
"I will not mess with iMovie on a weeknight."
"I will not mess with iMovie on a weeknight."
"I will not mess with iMovie on a weeknight."
"I will not mess with iMovie on a weeknight."
"I will not mess with iMovie on a weeknight."

Guh. It's amazing I got into work by 7:30.

*downs some caffeine and wanders off to useless status meeting*

Hey. I have a computer question when you have time. Can someone hack into your web-based mail if they have your IP address? I didn't think it was possible, but I'm not sure. If not, how could someone hack yahoo mail if they didn't have your password? This is a question for a co-worker... Thanks.

I use DVD Workshop (similar, I think??) and I know the feeling. "I just want to fix this one thing... why is it taking so friggin' long to process??? Damn! Just have to try it again..."

And sympathies on the meeting... 90% of meetings (at least) are totally useless. I think the amount you get done in a meeting is inversely proportional to the number of people present (even worse if they're attending by speakerphone).

In this class I'm taking, they say the new thing in programming is 'Extreme Programming' - you do everything in groups - so you can spend hours arguing over every detail, no doubt. Who decided this is a good idea??

The same people who decided that the requirements team could CHANGE the requirements in the middle of development, I suppose.

You have requirements?? I get, "Write something based on our vague idea of what we want, and we'll tell you what's wrong with it."

Yeah, we have this whole team of people tasked to take the stupid ideas the Usability Center throws at us and put together Detailed Functional Requirements (the dreaded DFR) for the developers - only to be told midway through the development, "Change this and this and this in the DFR. The developers can implement it in time."

Did I mention I work in a government office? :)

Wow, so do I - (are we both Feds?) - but I think it's a universal aspect of programming/applications development, Rach says the same thing.

Wow, I know that feeling... It sounds like me with fics, or the Megaman sprites I've been playing with... The only difference is I don't have a job right now.

I know you don't know me... I'm a big-time fic junkie and first ran across your work on a random "I wonder if anyone else's heard of this series?" quest my brain gave me... a year or so ago? I can't remember. The series was Tomorrow People (NS), and I loved your work. So I started reading your other stories in other series, and I fell back in love with Power Rangers and Buffy and TP, of course. I didn't know reviewing was a good thing back then; I'd read all my books five times over and was looking for something new. And there was lots of it... All your work is fantastic. I love it. I never said it before, but I do. Better late than never, I suppose...

So anyways, I'd reread "N-Files" a few days ago and wanted to see if you'd posted anything new recently. I saw your rant, and here I am. I just wanted to say thanks. Your fics have been a joy and an inspiration. Really. I'd forgotten Captain N until "N-Files." Now I've got a seven-year-old's fond, hazy memories of it (the hazier the better, apparently, since it looks god-awful now), and an idea for a sprite comic that's all your fault. Thanks a lot. ^.~ Now I just have to keep your versions of Kevin's real-world friends out of the storyline... Rick and Romeo are very convincing when they want to be, and let's not even talk about Kelly...

So, um... yeah... I didn't mean for that to turn out so long... I just wanted to say hi, and thanks, and then it exploded or something. So, thanks again... I hope you'll keep writing, if for no other reason than your talent's too good to waste. Thanks yet again for all the wonderful fics.

Sincerely,
Kuroba Hikaru
