*waves from the UMBC computer lab*
Aug. 7th, 2005 02:16 pmAfter 12 days, countless CSR calls, one trouble ticket that Verizon cancelled without telling CloseCall, 10 hours of leave used, two service techs, many calls to CloseCall to ensure that Verizon didn't close the second ticket on me, one new NID box, two totally replaced exterior phone lines and a partridge in a pear tree... I HAVE LAND LINE SERVICE NOW! *thud*
Still working on the DSL, but I've already put in the order for that and it's at least expedited.
Anyway. No car hiccups for the past 2 days, but the temperature gauge hasn't gotten high enough. I just spent the past 2 hours compiling all my logs and details from memory of all the car hiccup incidents I can remember from way back on April 6th when this actually started. I think there's something up with the ignition or the steering column, I really do. A loose ground wire, IMO, should have affected the stereo/air conditioning/any AC adapter stuff in the car, but it's just the engine. Besides, if it WAS a loose ground wire from the accident 23 months ago, the symptoms would have shown up already. I'm making them inspect the steering column and the ignition switch when I take it in on Monday.
Anyway, the rest of the con report is pending, as are the Vegas pics. Apparently, the Kiwi (aka
jennies' brother) has absconded with her CD of Vegas photos to parts unknown.
I've also spent 2 hours in the computer lab going over everything I could think of regarding the car, and am really hungry, so that'll be it for today. Need to get food and go back to putting stuff away in the house (read: putting more stuff in boxes because I can't repair the computer desk or mount shelves so I can actually put them away).
Edit: Oh, get this - finally found out what was up with the Otakon registration. Apparently, the group name was rejected, but NONE OF THE WEB FORMS told us this and let us add members to the group. So there was no online pre-reg form sent to the staff by the forms, so they processed our payments but have no registrations to attach them to, and now want an extra $10 per person because of the lateness.
I really need to go maul some lunch. Seriously.
