*sigh* Okay, look. I know Otakon is huge. I know that slots fill up quickly.

But for the love of God, people - if you're going to close registration for the artists' alley less than 24 hours after you open it, ADVERTISE THE WINDOW WELL IN ADVANCE DAMMIT!

...I'm not even one of the people who was trying to get a table and I'm pissed off about this. Damn. So much for the live-action WoW quests. Boo.

If the Art Show is filling in less than a day, maybe they should consider getting a bigger room for it.

...Short of hijacking the Dealer's Room, which is bigger than a football field, I'm not sure they could.

Assuming, of course, they're using the same space for the Alley this year they did last year. It's quite possible they expanded the Dealers' Room space further and took space away from the Alley again this year, now that I think of it.

I end up spending more time in the Alley than the Dealers' Room every year anyway - maybe I'll duck into the Dealers' Room to see if there's any free swag and if the half-price manga retailers are selling (and check for art books) for an hour. At least in the Alley there's a lot more stuff that you haven't seen before, usually cheaper and that I'm more likely to go for. Seriously, I ♥ the person who made jewelry out of D&D dice.

Honestly, the main reason I go to Otakon every year is because I don't have to worry about booking a hotel and/or a flight for it. Stupid mass airline industry panic is making it a pain to find tickets to Chicago that won't get invalidated. (The Airbus meltdown is why my folks got stuck in Ohio and had to get a rental car and drive 17 hours to get home.)

Right now, indigoangelcat and I are thinking we'll sic stuff on the Art Show (since it's free and sales can still be made), and possibly be roving artists (there were a good number of ppl in common/lounge areas last year offering quickie/chibi sketches for cheaps). And we're on the waiting list, so maybe, MAYBE we might possibly have table space at some point for something. (Also, Tasca knows people. Not the kind of people *I* know, that'll happily disappear one's foes if asked nicely, but the kind of people that sometimes abandon their tables the first day and might potentially be bribed into loaning it out. :P)

And I still say the live-action WoW quests are ON. Admittedly, this requires actually making FUNCTIONAL light-up silly "!"/"?" headbands, but really all we need for those is a simple plastic tube (like from a broken kiddie lightsaber), a bulb, a battery, and some copper wire. :3 DANGER PHYSICS!!!!!!!!
