Picked this one up from [livejournal.com profile] bktheirregular.

Name a CD you own that no one else on your friends list does:
Supernatural, Des'ree. Only CD I've ever bought without hearing one song from it first. I don't think she released any singles, so this is my most likely candidate. (Or not.)

Second try: They're Everywhere, Jim's Big Ego.

Name a book you own that no one else on your friends list does:
McLendon's Syndrome by Robert Frezza. (I will be stunned if someone else has this one. I only picked it up because the author based the lead female character off my Dad's girlfriend at the time - they were friends in college.)

Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that no one else on your friends list does:
Geez. Since the robbery makes this hard, I'll put out my most likely candidates before and after the robbery:
Before: Election
After: Cutthroat Island. It was $5, and I was curious. (The only other candidate is U.S. Seals 2, and I know [livejournal.com profile] athersgeo has a copy of that.)

Name a place that you have visited that no one else on your friends list has:
...I don't think there is such a place. Anyone else been out to Ft. Laramie, Wyoming? (I only offer that because when I mentioned it to a co-worker this weekend, he said I was the first person he'd met who'd been to Wyoming state.)

I've been to Wyoming. Visited Yellowstone back in '91. I dunno if we stopped or went through. Ft. Laramie though.

AHA! I have Supernatural! ... well, I do. Somewhere. WHERE, however, is a question.

US Seals 2 is on video? *wonders if Blockbuster has it to rent*

I am, in fact, nuts, it would seem.

*waves*

Actually, I have a copy of Cutthroat Island. The Kiwi gave it to me for my birthday one year "because you like pirate movies". Its cheesyness amuses me. Plus, before Pirates, it was one of the few recent comedic pirate-y movies on the block.

Other than that, I think you're clear. But I think I'll swipe a copy of this meme for my own amusement...

Yup, been to Fort Laramie. Can't remember quite when, but *thwip* the coworker for me. :> I get up there fairly often, to see relatives, or on my way through to other points north.

What's McLendon's Syndrome about?

I figured you'd be the one on the flist to prove me wrong on that part. It's also why I ruled out everywhere I've been in Colorado (I have family out that way). And I already whacked him with a paper plate. :)

McLendon's Syndrome is probably one of the sillier SF novels out there. It's hard to describe, but the title syndrome is a condition likened to vampirism - the main difference, which most people ignore, is that the sufferers in this case have a craving for chocolate chip cookies as opposed to blood. Oh, and one of the major alien species featured in the book (much to the main character's chagrin) has modeled their society off of Bucky Beaver stories. Also, the female lead Robert Frezza based off my Dad's old girlfriend tortures the male lead with puns. Constantly.

Both it and the sequel, The VMR Theory, are out-of-print, but you can get them used at Amazon.com for pocket change.

Hee. Good for you. And where in Colorado is your family situated?

*blink* Okayyy... hee. I like that.

It does sound fluffy, but I like it.

Puttin' it on the list of things to look for....

Well, that counts, and I'm kind of glad to be proven wrong on that one.

...if you can't find it, want a copy? ;)

Hrm. Actually, come to think of it, I have an idea where it might be...

Oh, and I forgot to mention before: I don't know/remember if she got any radio play after You Gotta Be, but she had at least three videos come off of this CD (although I think the video for Kissing You was out before the CD, 'cause of Romeo and Juliet). IIRC, both Life and Fire had videos.

*kicks IE for eating my last reply attempt*

I've got cousins on my Dad's side in Colorado Springs and in Denver, and one of my uncles on Mom's side lives in Laramie, WY. So we used to make occasional week-long trips out that way in the summer to see everyone. Haven't been out there since '96, though...

Wait, there was a video for "Fire?" I just remembered "Kissing You" was from the R+J soundtrack, but I had no idea there was a video for "Fire." I loved that cover, in spite of Mom's attempts to ruin it for me by imitating the Robin Williams version of the song. :)

... come to think of it, maybe I shouldn't say that.

Des'ree did a song with a male artist; there was a video for that, and there was quite a bit of fire imagery in it (and, actually, now that I think of it, I think it got radio play, too....). It's been a while since I've listened to the CD, but I'm pretty sure it was Fire.
