mandolinBleah. The mood is derived from the fact that after I spent an hour typing up my preliminary sloppy outline thing for my section of the paper, Blackboard won't let me in to post it for the group. Gah!
First off, an apology - Pain's birthday was Thursday, but I had the wrong date written down. I'm sorry!
Anyway. Saw The Incredibles this weekend. Must agree with all and sundry that it was a thoroughly entertaining ride. I do see where a lot of the Fantastic Four comparisons were coming from, but let's face it - with the plethora of comic book superheroes, it's next to impossible to come up with superpowers that haven't already been done. I assume the director just decided to keep it simple - he did explain in an interview that the Incredibles were largely based off his own family growing up (if they had superpowers, that is). And Edna Mode rules. Not much else I can gush about without spoiling it or going over things the friends list has already covered. Brad Bird made good use of the PG rating; it didn't push the rating, but it's not for the very young.
I should note that after taking in the movie, we ate at Perkins and saw a little kid at one of the tables wearing a black cape - which immediately inspired the subject quote and cheers of "Capes bad!" from our table.
Also went on the candlelight ghost walking tour of historic Frederick, which was also cool - even if you don't believe that sort of thing, there's a lot of interesting history behind some of the stops. We were also highly amused that one of the stops was not far away from Death's place. (Her: "Maybe I should ask him if there's anything haunting my building." Me: "Other than you?")
