Mozilla weirdness.

Okay, because of spyware fears I went and installed Mozilla Firefox on my PC at work.

So when I was using it, several sites wouldn't come up: my site, ff.net, the Queen of Wands site. I got "The operation timed out" messages when I tried to get to those sites.

Then I tried opening them up in IE, and got in with no trouble at all. I've checked the connection settings, all the proxy settings are correct.

This didn't happen prior to the XP upgrade here. Anyone else have problems running Firefox on XP, or is this my own peculiar brand of browser luck?

Oddly enough, this morning I managed to get all three of those sites using Firefox on XP. Sometimes you have to refresh the page to get some sites, but in general, I haven't seen that problem.

I've had no problems with Firefox on XP (sp2, if that makes a difference); nothing at all like what you're describing here.

I use Firefox on XP. Make sure you have SP2 and delete the cache. I've had to do that sometimes in order to get pages to come up properly.

Hi! You don't know me, I don't have an LJ account, but I thought you had a hilarious icon on covielle's blog and thought I'd poke around instead of doing homework! :o) One of my friends is a comp sci major, so he explained the peculiarities of FireFox using to me once. Supposedly IE runs with an assumption that people will screw up coding their pages, so if there's a slight typo in the code, it will go ahead and display it right. FireFox doesn't--it displays sites as is, so if there's a typo, ouch. I do most of my poking around in FireFox because it's leaps and bounds more secure (college internet, auuuugh, not so much) than IE, but I still have to open those few trusted webcomics in IE to make them work. Darn typos, arr. Good luck poking around with the new browser!
