Webcomic rec....
May. 19th, 2003 03:06 pmOkay, it's a day late, but I just remembered to throw out another webcomic rec. Not an unknown comic, but hey: Mark Stanley's Freefall is definitely worth checking out. A consistently funny and smart sci-fi comic strip that chronicles the adventures of a responsible wolvish engineer, the most irresponsible alien in existence and his highly impressionable robot. If the words "We have confirmed Sam launch!" don't terrify you, you've got some reading to do.
There's five years' worth of comics to go through, yet a full week hasn't passed in the story yet. You've got to admire a comic that can mine THAT MANY punchlines out of a few days' time.
Examples:
"You know, there's still time to chase him down, disassemble him, and hide the body."
"Oh, hush, or I'm not going to let you alter social structures on a planetary scale with me anymore."
"Don't worry about it, dear. Some people don't know how to be polite after they've been decapitated."
"Moronic user error. Details: If I had hands, I would slap you silly."
"It must be a common fault. I see that error message all the time."
"Power corrupts, but the power of duct tape corrupts absolutely."
Heh. Just go read Freefall already. You'll be glad you did. :)
