TGIF!

I'm so easily amused. Prior to the department picnic, we've been having little division competitions to see who can rack up the most points. Since I'm on picnic staff, I refused to have any involvement with the mind teasers so I could compete in that respect - I figured it was the only contest I'd be any help with.

Monday: First question. Missed it, too busy picking up car from shop.
Tuesday: Second question. I make it too complicated and don't figure it out in time to win.
Wednesday: Third question. It gets e-mailed out while I'm in the ladies room and by the time I return to my cube, someone's beaten me to the punch.
Thursday: Fourth question. One of those "logic puzzles" we had to do a lot of in the fifth grade - but you had to draw up the grid yourself. I was on the right track, but got slowed up when a co-worker came in to ask about picnic tickets (me: "Could you come back in 20 minutes, please?") and someone in another division beat me to it. (Actually, even without that distraction, I wouldn't have gotten it in time.)
Today: Last question, a series of coded proverbs. Got the e-mail at 9:01, flew through the questions and had heard both riddles before. Sent answer in at 9:07. Realized I'd made a mistake and sent correction at 9:11, now positive I'd missed the boat. (Some other questions had been answered in two or three minutes flat!) E-mail came through a little while ago. I was the first one to answer correctly and my division FINALLY got points in this category.

It takes so little to make my day sometimes.

On with the time-wasting. Copycatting off of [livejournal.com profile] altrn8realities:
