Not dead. But for the purposes of playing catch-up, I am briefly violating my policy of keeping all Real-Life-related posts friends-locked. So here comes the slew of randomness...

First off, I said this to you five or six times during the wedding reception and you heard it another fifty, but congratulations [livejournal.com profile] blue_soulfire! I actually got some good pictures from the chapel and reception if you want yet more to sift through - okay, mostly the ones with Jim and Brian and company dancing to YMCA with props. And some pictures of you looking beautiful. *hugs*

If anyone's wondered why I haven't replied to e-mails this weekend... for the brief time that I had the chance to sit down and check my mail, Yahoo! Mail decided it hated being opened by any browser on a Mac. The problem's been remedied, but excuse my delayed reaction time.

I now have a garbage disposal. And a new trap in the first-floor bathroom sink. Whee! Thanks, Mike!

I saw the latest news on silly Internet related laws and had to laugh. If this law is intended that way, there's no way they're going to be able to enforce it.

Does anyone know of a good way to reliably clean soot off of a concrete floor? While Quality Climate Control was very professional when it came to installing the new heater, their clean-up skills left a LOT to be desired. I've got plastic bags covering the laundry room floor now so I don't track soot back into the tiled part of the basement whenever I go in there. The main passageway has drains, if that helps. I can't just keep trash bags on the floor there permanently, and I can't keep tracking soot out of there if I ever want to get the tile floor clean. Ugh.

Reason #567 the website hasn't been updated: I am currently driving my home computer crazy making slideshow vids for friends and putting them on iDVD. It works, and I have a system, but it pretty much eats up a huge chunk of memory. And I'm using the free time while it sits there and renders and/or burns to clean and pick up. The office will look like a part of a human habitation again!

hello! oooh, garbage disposal is a good think. i have no idea how to clean soot off of concrete; but if there's a fireplace / wood stove store in your area, they'd have some sort of product for removing soot. anyway, good luck with that!

Now I can go to jail for annoying someone without using my real name???

Ah, no, I'm safe. I don't intend to annoy anyone, I intend to piss them the hell off.

*snerk*

Seriously, though, I've heard that it's really supposed to apply to harassment via VoIP - and besides, I can't imagine how they could possibly enforce it if it's interpreted the way the article is implying.

I saw the part that supposedly limits it to VoIP, and frankly - I understood the individual words, but the whole thing was gobbledegook to me.

The part everyone's upset about says basically 'any telecommunications device using the internet' so that should apply to any kind of PC. And the wording generally stinks, it's so general. But yeah, I don't think it means we'll get arrested for arguing with someone online. If it does - more people will be in jail than out.

In case you didn't know, and I'm telling you this, coz I think I remember reading a fan fic you wrote for the show - The Flash came out on DVD this week - the 1990-1991 series with John Wesley Shipp and Amanda Payes.

Well, whenever I clean the glass plate covering my fireplace, I'm using a liquid household scourer with grease-softening properties and lots of elbow grease.

Dunno how well that'd work on a possibly porous surface, though; using a charcoal-grill cleaner might be a possibility. (Soot as such usually is kind of greasy; you might want to try any household cleaning product that is okay for greasy substances/surfaces -- like a lot of plain detergents?)

Got a kick out of the new law. It will be very interesting to see what happens. Looks like it would be near impossible to enforce for sure, but still if I were the type that liked to get online for the purpose of upsetting people, I might be a little deterred on account of the possibility I could and might get caught. Makes me giggle thinking of all the legal issues and cans of worms that would open up for lawyers fighting such cases. :o
