OKAY. There was supposed to be a day's late commentary here due to yesterday's EPIC HEADACHE.

The wrong keystroke combination just deleted the WHOLE THING. So: bullet points!

- This was the second case I played, since I found JFA first and had been struggling through the semester from hell before I got my DS and didn't want to wait for the first game to arrive in the mail.
- So it really surprised me how quick and easy this case was. I think it's only half the length of even 2-1.
- Since I heard Larry before I saw him, I envisioned this goth-emo-wannabe based on the cries of "Death! Despair!" ...and then Larry appeared. And I blinked.
- Having played 2-1, I knew that I couldn't object to Payne being a twit til the cross-examination started, but it was still annoying. Also, the tutorial leading up to it is now tedious.
- Still, when you get to the very end of the case and it looks like the judge is going to hand down his verdict, the first time I played it, I was flailing and trying to figure out what I did wrong. In fact, I shut the DS down and went back to the save point one more time before I realized that I hadn't screwed up and that Mia would buy me the chance to present the passport. Good thing I didn't make this mistake on a REALLY long case. Lesson learned: save your game.
- Main bonus of this case for me: it's the only time you see not-dead Mia outside of a flashback. It's interesting to note that she always calls Phoenix "Wright" here, but not once Maya channels her. I guess you don't need formalities when you're dead. I also read this as an indicator against Phoenix/Mia at this point; her last line aside, I don't think she was interested in him in quite that way then. This may have changed if she'd gotten to stick around a bit longer after that, but at the time I don't think it was an option.

...and I'm going to post this before I accidentally nuke it.
