Sometimes I hate being right...
Oct. 14th, 2003 01:13 pmSo I'm on the National Do Not Call Registry and decided, just to be safe, to verify that I had indeed registered two months ago (I have the registry e-mail to prove it, but you never know.)
Got a verification e-mail back that said (number censored out):
Your phone number with the last four digits XXXX is not registered in
the National Do Not Call Registry.
To register your phone number, click here
https://donotcall.gov/register/Reg.aspx and enter your information in
the registration form.
Grrrr...
I registered back in July! I have the registration e-mail to prove it! Argh!
Why do they even have the option available on the website if they're just going to lose my registration online?
Oh, and on a related note: Who needs the Do Not Call List when you have Bun-bun around? Heh.

Date: 2003-10-15 06:42 am (UTC)Now if they take the hint and leave me be, fine. If they either keep talking or act insulted, then I start getting a bit snippy.
I do remember one incident where this credit card company kept calling my dorm room in search of "Angel," an upperclassman who they thought owed them money. (Now since they were collecting debt, they pretended to be a friend at first: "Hi, is Angel there?") Despite our protests that no, Angel is not at this number, this is a dorm room occupied by a couple of sophomores, and would they please call the switchboard already before we killed something, they just KEPT CALLING.
The whole thing came to a head early one Saturday morning. I was alone in the room and planned to sleep in past noon - I'd run security at a Friday night hall party and hadn't gotten to bed til 3:30. So when the phone rang at 7:30 am, I grabbed it and hoped for the other person's sake that it was important.
"Hi! Is Angel there?"
I totally snapped at that point. I don't recall the gist of what I said, but I do remember it being very loud and mentioning harassment, the fact that we'd told them to CALL THE SWITCHBOARD to get to Angel, the fact that they'd called a total of SEVEN times in the past three days, et cetera, et cetera. (At one point, I got her manager and yelled at him for 10 straight minutes.)
Whatever I said, it worked, because they NEVER called us again. :)
