In the end, you helped her as well as yourself. This is a person who needs to make changes with her life, but expects others to make all the effort, so she doesn't have to. I've seen this sort of thing before. You are not the bad guy here. It seems this person is so used to her misery, that anything to chagne that is scary. She needs to truly want help and want to change in order to do it, and it doesn't seem like she wants it. Standing up for yourself is the best decision, because there's no need for you to get sucked down into her destructive whirlpool.
