Okay. Had glucose tolerance test today. Bad: any taste I would have had for orange soda has been killed by the stuff they gave me. Good: it was a 2 hour test. Will know more next week.

Other stuff: Last night's rehearsal ran fairly smoothly, but I didn't get out of the hall til 11 pm.

So I'm just running sound for "Wait Until Dark," which is a heck of a lot easier than lighting, and shouldn't be too hard with the small number of sound cues, right? Ha.

Got there at 7, but set construction was still going on (WE HAVE CUPBOARDS! YAY!) and while I had no trouble setting up the sound board, there were a few complications. The levels had been all messed up on Sunday - not by my doing, but by the other tech who knew more than me - and the stage manager frantically tried to fix them and get them noted. The sound effects wound up being on 2 different CDs, and they had been recorded at different sound levels - and a light bulb smashing bit had to be added at the last second. So while I played around with the sound cues (hindered by the background noise of people working), I tried to figure out where in the script certain cues should go. We'd changed a few things, and I just got a copy of the script and had to bug the director ever so often to check on things.

We didn't manage to start rehearsal til 9 pm. ("Wha' happened?") There were a couple of technical bugs - the lead couldn't get herself to the sink in the dark in time, and we'll have to put down glow tape for some of the dark scenes, and unplugging the digital clock onstage was a bit of an ordeal - but we got it done in 2 hours. There was the problem where I had a doorbell cue RIGHT AFTER the music box cue (and of course, those were on separate CDs), and a point where two of the leads got SO QUIET that I could not compensate for it without getting a bit of feedback. (Note: No body mikes here, just the ceiling microphones.)

Oh, and the 12-year-old girl in our cast is scarier than ME on a sugar rush. I've got to respect that.

I am seriously tempted to switch the music box effect with "Dueling Banjos" tonight. The director will kill me, but... I'm tempted, and this is the only time I can get away with it (since tomorrow is dress rehearsal).

Nah. I like living.

Since the rest of this week is tech week, it's safe to say I'm not going to get anything done in the fanfic or website updating department for a bit. So, I'm going to at least post some link corrections up HERE for now until I get the chance to make updates on my home computer.

Fanfic Recs:
- Swords At World's Edge has moved. The correct link for the story can be found here: http://www.oafe.net/poe/swords/swords1.htm
- Need to add a rec under the PotC section for Wait for No Man by Gamine. Reading it, loving it, trying to coherently review it in my spare time. (Of course, I'm hitting Overdue Syndrome on this, and my usual babble seems kind of silly since I already rambled about it to her in RL this weekend. Ah well. :) ) Best line so far: "And then the Governor winked. At a wench. In a pub in Tortuga. Jack wondered how Beelzebub was enjoying the frost."

Last but not least: I am officially going to be using [livejournal.com profile] mandichaos for personal commentary that has nothing to do with my site from now on. So if that stuff mildly interests you as well, keep it in mind.
