Another long weekend I wasn't expecting

mandolinSaw Spider-Man 2 the other night. Need to think about this one before I pass judgment on it (I was sitting next to Death who was muttering, "Must... kill... something" during certain parts, so I think that influenced my reactions.)
I am also such a ditz sometimes. Since Independence Day here in the States falls on a Sunday this year, I assumed that since it was already on a weekend and we'd be off that day anyway, we wouldn't get extra time off. (I do remember one year working at the army post when it fell on a Saturday and we didn't get extra time off.)
So I stopped in my track lead's office on the way out of work yesterday and asked when he'd be in next week so I could talk to him about grad school funding.
His reply: "Monday - well, no, we'll all be out Monday. Tuesday."
Me: "Wait. We DO have Monday off?"
Him: "Didn't you know that?"
Geez, I'm glad I stopped to talk to him. Coming in Monday to an empty office would have sucked.
Anyway, must go pack up car and shower and finish off the cheesecake for tomorrow's cookout with family. Have a great weekend, all...
