Just got in, am dead tired and there's thunder outside, but I had to share:

Mom called me when I got home - she'd been watching the Olympics. "Mandi, did you have Mrs. Phelps in Home Ec in middle school?"

Mrs. Phelps was my Home Ec teacher and had to put up with me all through 6th grade Home Ec. Of course I remembered her. Why?

"She was just on TV right now."

Huh?

For those who haven't gotten it yet - her son had just won another gold medal in swimming for the US.

*boggle*

I had no idea.

Edit for clarity: Yes, Michael Phelps' mom was my sixth-grade Home Ec teacher. You'd think I'd have clued in during the LAST Olympics!

Cool! Did you know that Mrs. Hughes (high school typing) is the regional skeet shooting champion for the NE United States? She never looked like a skeet shooter to me.
