Take that, dustbunnies!
Jan. 13th, 2005 10:25 amLet me get the meme out of the way first. Nabbed from everyone by now:
Oh, yeah. Posted on
customers_suck a while back, and mentioned the rhyming rant I did about my college IT department for my Satire class in '99. Does anyone know where I can find the full lyrics (or heck, an audio clip would be awesome) of Jack Black and Will Ferrell's rendition of the speech cut-off song's lyrics? On a complete and utter whim and an hour or two of free time, Nothing to See Here has been updated. This question is vaguely fanfic-related, and while writing I realized that it's a question I myself couldn't possibly answer. Noticing an annoying trend in PRDT fanfic, one that I'd really like to rant about here. Okay, this is maybe a week overdue, but just as I took my sweet time betaing it (again, I'm sorry!), I naturally took my time getting around to recommending it. Not dead. Happy birthday,
jennies! Okay, stupid rant ahead. This is probably proof that I read my friends list too much, but I was browsing
mock_the_stupid and found a post that made me go, "Okay,
honorh is SO going to want to join in on the mocking..." Busy couple of days, some catching up to do.
For those who don't read my friends lists and thought that something was wrong with your radios yesterday, it's not you: WHFS has been replaced by an all-Spanish station. I haven't listened to HFS in a while, but the complete lack of warning about this was weird - did they just think no one would notice?
Regarding the title - my apartment has been vacuumed. Finally. A couple times over. With an application of the last of the carpet foam for good measure. It doesn't look much better, but it's an improvement. Especially since some of the older hallway stains seem to have come up. Yay!
I know the content of my LJ for the past couple weeks has been less than scintillating - the saga of Me Versus the Apartment Mess From Hell has probably not been keeping people on the edge of their seats. But prior to the holidays and the return of my free time, my apartment was really, really bad. Trust me on this.
It's also worth noting that for as long as I can remember, I've had problems with organization. I am not technically a slob - I can handle a couple of loose books and shoes here and there, but I can't stand mess - yet I cannot seem to keep things clean. And the state of my surroundings does affect my state of mind. I remember being stuck on a paper freshman year of college and finally having to put down the books and go do my laundry and clear the stuff off my bed before I could think clearly again while my roommate probably thought I was insane.
So now that I have the time to do it, getting my apartment cleaned up and maybe even somewhat organized... that's a hell of a coup. Really.
Now taking bets on how long this will last. Two days? A week? Who knows? :)
(Oh, and the UPS package did come. Yay!)

Date: 2005-01-13 05:05 pm (UTC)Glad to hear you finally got your package. UPS annoys the heck out of me sometimes as well. The worst was that they wouldn't leave a package containing software DH had ordered (which was of course in a plain brown box), but left a travel stroller and baby swing that were NOT in boxes and easily identifiable right on my front porch. Huh?
o.O
