JLU: "The Once and Future Thing, Part 2"
Jan. 30th, 2005 10:21 amSo happy I taped this last night.
I found it fairly clever that the episode went out of its way to point out that the timeline was "polluted" - thus, the future we saw wasn't set in stone. (So while WE know that Warhawk will still be born - he's shown up in Batman Beyond and in the legitimate, non-time-polluting trip to the future in Static Shock - John doesn't know that.) Which made the revelations and comparing of notes logical. Still, it didn't make things any less complicated for John, did it? ;)
"Shayera was one cranky pregnant lady." That in itself is a fanfic summary right there. *kicks creativity demons*
Given Batman's reaction to Diana vanishing from the timeline... "Just friends" my ASS.
Batman playing good cop to older Bruce's bad cop - that was beautiful. I can only imagine what they cut away from after Bruce said, "Let me show you how to interrogate someone."
The time shifts amused me, although I was glad when John blinked back in and the "Will you make up your mind?" comment.
So of course, just when John was coming to terms with the idea of a future with Shayera ("Get away from my kid" was a hint, I think), everything's back to normal and only GL and Batman remember what happened. Oh, yeah, things are a lot more complicated...
Last but not least: Batman's modifications to the time belt. What an evil, appropriate punishment indeed. Best use of "Groundhog Day" time-looping ever. :)
