LJ-cutting like nuts because I promised some people on my friends list I would.
Got up early this morning and headed out to Frederick for the Celtic Festival. Very enjoyable, good music - one of the guys who works at Brainstorm Comics is in a band, Rant and Roar, who performed there - and summer weather. It was 80 degrees by noon. We didn't stay long, but Death, Plague and I chipped in to buy Vengeance (Pestilence's husband) a coffee mug from the pottery tent. We couldn't resist; it said "Disgruntled Minion." I actually went back later on my way out of Frederick to pick up some stuff.
Oh, and I didn't mention: Pestilence and Vengeance have a new kitten. She is orange, five months old and her name is Tiger. If you tie her favorite stuffed mouse to a string and drag it across the room, she will perform insane acrobatics going after it. And when she gets under the dining room table, she will treat the legs and chairs like her own personal jungle gym. This cat is a trip.
In other news, put down another contract on a house. *crosses fingers* It's old, but nice and very well cared for, on a quiet street near UMBC. I hope I don't get outbid, because I am not going over the bid I put down. If I get it, I'm going to have to do some painting and do something about that yellow kitchen, but otherwise it's very cute. And the required move-in time - the end of June - is IDEAL since it's a month before and after my major trips. *hopes*
My car at least waited til the drive home to let me know it was possessed. Or, more specifically: On April 6th, the car engine just shut off at a stoplight and I had to restart the car to get moving. Took it in, they looked but didn't find anything. Then, on May 9th, it happened to me again on the way to class. Then, on the way back home on Route 70 today, the car "hiccuped" for lack of a better word, and the Check Oil light flickered. Fifteen minutes later, it happened again, this time with the Check Engine light. I ended up driving slowly in the right lane with my blinkers on all the way home. Called O'Donnell, and they told me to bring it in first thing Monday. It might be the electrical system. Oy. I do know that a) they have a shuttle service, and b) if the car's not fixed by 4, I should be able to get a ride to UMBC to take my final exam. Mom has offered to come down on Monday to take me to UMBC/pick me up after the final. So I should be okay, but I'll have to call in for part of the morning at least.
Oh, and I finally bit the bullet and decided I am coming to Vegas after all. But not alone.
jennies has expressed interest to come along, so after the final exam, I'm hunting down plane tickets.
Sadly, btefnet has finally bit the dust. Well, it was inevitable, I guess...
Part Three of the "Murphy's Law" commentary is up.
On the other hand, I splurged and now have the entire Lone Gunmen series on DVD, and cranberry honey and tea, so things balance out well here. Must go study two lectures then reward myself with a viewing of "Tango de los Pistoleros." I adored this show when it was on.

Date: 2005-05-16 05:10 pm (UTC)Good luck on the house! The timing and location certainly sound convenient, and I hereby tender an open offer of home improvement assistance, as this crazy apartment dweller yearns to be able to paint and tile things. And do let us know what's amiss with Jewel. (You *have* explained to her that you don't intend for her to make the trip to Vegas, yes?) Seriously, though, I hope whatever's wrong with your car can be easily diagnosed & quickly fixed.

Date: 2005-05-16 06:06 pm (UTC)Maybe it's something with the electrical system? Memory/computer about to go bad/overheating, wiring w/peeling insulation, that sort of thing?
