mandolinWeekend SisterHood Get-Together, Take Two actually didn't fall apart this time. Yay.
After confirming on Friday that yes, my oil burner works and tech #1 was a moron - tech #2 did all the proper testing and cleaning and gave me a copy of the results - I went out to Fredneck on Saturday to rendezvous with the gang and catch a showing of Wallace and Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit before D&D. Despite a hold-up on my end, I got to the theater, got inside and found where War, Plague and Death were sitting just in time for the previews to start. Ha! Much more successful than last week, although admittedly not on the same scale as a Ren Faire trip.
So anyway, the movie was good; while I'm not as well-versed in W&G as Death, I did see "The Wrong Trousers" waay back in 1994 when it got the Academy Award. I truly adored the short, although I was biased in that anything with criminal penguins is bound to amuse me. So while the movie itself was short on penguins, They didn't try to Americanize it or dumb it down, they stuck to the original stop-motion clay animation rather than trying to rely on CGI, and the adults in the theater were constantly cracking up - the kids laughed at the more obvious stuff, but the references went over their heads. I may want to watch it again just to catch some of the bits I missed, and without spoiling it, I should have seen what the deal with the were-rabbit was before Gromit figured it out.
I'm not going to be able to look at vegetables for another week without giggling.
