Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] leiza, four days late. (Sorry!)

Saturday was Death's birthday, and we celebrated with much chocolate, lunch, and went out to see Sin City. The latter I'd heard about, and it was pretty much what I expected. It was good, but if you have a weak stomach... don't go. (The fact that the credits say "Special Guest Director Quentin Tarantino" is a hint.)

I have a remote and a working DVD recorder now. Yay! I've started in on my Now and Again tapes, the poor 5+ year old videotapes recorded in SLP speed which must be preserved somehow. There may be commentary later as I have to rewatch the eps to record them commercial-free. :) I am mildly annoyed that the finalized DVDs won't play in all players (the Toshiba? Yes. Deb's DVD player? Yes. My computer? Yes. My Sony DVD player which does play DVD-Rs because I used it to test my iDVD projects? No) but it's still a heck of a lot better than the Philips. Yeah, I could wait until there were no compatibility issues with that sort of thing, but who knows when that will be.

Survived the midterm. Got an A. Yay for my tendency to be anal-retentive about these kind of things.

And off to look at more houses. Wish me luck.

Watching House, and the trailer for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy came on.

Now I've been pretty intrigued by this film so far, even more so when Alan Rickman signed on as Marvin's voice. And I've known who the main cast is for quite some time; when Martin Freeman was signed as Arthur, I went, "Okay," and went back to my life.

Here's the stupid thing: I got a hold of and watched the entire series run of the BBC series "The Office" over a year ago, and watched the holiday special a few months ago. I adored that series, I just can't watch the US version without comparing the two now, and no one can top Ricky Gervais' David Brent. But I really loved the main character of the series, Tim (played by Martin Freeman, see where this is going?), despite his occasional stupid moments with the other blonde in Season 2. And as non-romantic as I am, I was always rooting for Tim and Dawn and SPOILER CUT! )

Only NOW have I taken a good look at the trailer, realized that we were not talking about two separate Martin Freemans this time and went, "Eee! It's Tim!"

I am DEFINITELY going to be seeing the movie in theaters now.

How long did it take me to realize this?
