(I've been promising to do this for a while, and now that there's now a new promo...)

White sand beaches.
Rolling waves of turquoise.
Golden rays of sunshine.
Tropical paradise.
crossinglostadbanner04
Except that what should be a picture perfect holiday spot isn't. This tropical island is home to the survivors of the ill-fated Oceanic Flight 815 and many other individuals whom were pulled to the island through time, space and even from alternate universes. As ecletic and different as these people are, they must learn to survive together on an island that defies the laws of physics and nature, where those who wish them harm are just an arm's reach away, where nothing is exactly as it seems. All are stranded on this island for a purpose, and it can only be hoped that they learn what that purpose is before it is too late.

This is the story of Crossing Lost, a LiveJournal hosted RP, inspired by ABC's "LOST." Crossing Lost is a character-driven, completely non-canon game.

Someday, I shall have time, inspiration, and internet access ALL AT THE SAME TIME, and shall investigate this further. Though I suspect at this point one cannot simply toss in a new character, for wont of controlling population growth and orphaned characters. (Though it would perhaps be easier as a starting point, as both the new char and the new writer would have NO CLUE what was going on, and could simply get swept along in things more realistically than one that knows exactly what's going on and what's been going on since the beginning...)

...Besides, I don't think they'd let Lita or Ferdie in. Or War. Or even Devon, for that matter... ^_- (This is where the whole not-watching-TV thing works against me, I suppose. And I'm not sure Terry Pratchett chars would go over well....except for CMOT Dibbler, who would of course materialize whenever a crowd formed and begin selling questionnable sausages-in-a-bun.)

As an alternative...

Well, this comm is a crack RP, and they already have Darkwing Duck and a whole TON of Discworld characters. To name a few: DEATH, Susan, Vimes, CMOT Dibbler, Teatime, Ronnie Soak, Vetinari (okay, the last 2 were "popcorned"/abandoned, but they're there for those who want to pick them up)

H_H doesn't take original characters there, unfortunately, because of major OC abuse when the community started. (Can you say Mary Sues? Oy.) You COULD join the community and then contact the mods to see if a Bob Kiwi character would be permitted. (BTW, if the OC rule didn't apply, I'll bet Lita would get sorted into Slytherin. Ferdie would make it in, although I don't know WHERE he'd wind up. Maybe Ravenclaw just to geek out since Egon Spengler's already been sorted there.)

And even if you post an intentional squibbait app there, you can still have fun with the responses. If they won't let you honestly try to app a Bob Kiwi character, I'd suggest apping Bobetta as squibbait for the sheer unholy fun of it. (Characters that get squibbed can't be re-apped, which is why I suggested her. She's probably the only character of yours I could tolerate seeing squibbed.)

----

As for Crossing Lost, two new characters came in during this past week; Dana Scully woke up in the jungle with no memory of the time between the crash and the current day, and Isabel Evans washed up on the beach. It's not uncommon, and the game still hasn't brought in the "Tailies" who crashed on the far side of the island yet.

The GM is also trying to thin the NPC herd. Boone looks pretty much doomed as DHARMA has already raked him over the coals mentally. I think the only character we've really really really really needed a player to pick up was Rodney McKay because his expertise was sorely needed. (And his old player came back, fortunately.)

Besides, what with new rules and time zones, you don't have to be on constantly to keep up. My character won't be doing anything til Selma gets on and answers the tag I left last night, which won't be until 9 pm our time at the absolute earliest. The only time it gets crazy is when we have ALL PLAY game events (the rescue mission, the cafeteria shooting, Isabel going bonkers seeing Claire) and even then there's the 24 hour rule: everybody can only reply once and wait til everyone else has gone or 24 hours have passed.

Temptress.

It would be so *easy* to just drop Ferdie onto the island via one of those crazy lab accidents to which Newt's lab is so prone. (You know, like when Beak is asked to "push the red button" on a device with roughly 14 different red buttons. Or when Bob mistakes a fireworks array and/or rocket engine for a coffee grinder. Or when a certain squad car careens off the highway and goes airborne, only to land on the lab's transponder. I could go on...) And Lita would have a field day, regardless of whether or not she had PyKL along for the ride.

And the mental image of Sorting the Bob Kiwi crew is a riot. I have no doubts Lita would wind up in the House of the Snake. Squeaks & Ferdia would probably wind up in Griffindor, what with their penchant for charging off into battle and traffic laws be damned....it's Ferdie, Newton, and Iiwi I'd wonder about. I suppose Ravenclaw'd be a good bet. (Drake and Bobetta, on the other hand, are squib fodder.) Not that I've put all that much thought into this or would consider putting that many chars into a game; your comment just brought back memories of Care of Magical Creatures, as well as Scythe in Time and Vampire Slayer Ferdie, and the creativity demons all started jabbering away. (If I'd had an internet connection at the time, I'd've just found a Sorting quizlet and have had at it, but I didn't...)

...Don't mind me, I'm silly.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about Drake. Okay, make that 2 characters I could tolerate seeing squibbed. ;)

Hey, I've been fighting the temptation to app a character for H_H for a while now. (Fortunately, I've been stymied by the fact that I can't pick one.)
