So, is it just me, or is it easier to get distracted by completely petty garbage when you're supposed to be studying for a midterm?

...because the subconscious desire to NOT try to memorize the characteristics of information retrieval models and algorithms would probably explain why I keep dwelling on completely non-RL-related stuff that I know is silly.

Oh, yeah. Half the short fics I wrote as an undergrad were written when I was supposed to be writing papers. And I'm getting muses back that I haven't had in months. *sigh*

But come 6:30 on Tuesday night, I know they'll clam up entirely. Bastards.

Seriously, the concepts behind this stuff are interesting when I don't have to study them and memorize equations.

Yeaaah. I always end up reading thing three times, and copying them over in my own handwriting, before they sink in. So, so, so boring. But necessary and all.
