Completely random unconnected rambling.

Where have I been the last two weeks? WORK IS INSANE. That is all. At least, according to everyone I've asked, this kind of chaos is NOT normal for even most emergency releases.
Also, yes, I'm on Facebook. Because this week's assignment involves joining a social networking site (specifics should be posted later) and work is not blocking Facebook yet.
Also, I read the last Blue Beetle, and it makes me kind of sad to type that.
What did I think of it? My answer boils down to this: I didn't like anything that had to do with the rushed fridging. Almost everything else, I did like.
Because really... it was a fridging. Partly because it, like the rest of this story, was rushed out of necessity. The setup was contrived, the excuse was bad (why didn't anyone tell him it was a hologram?) and it wound up feeling like a hurried excuse to set up the Black Beetle before the series ended. It was rushed, poorly developed - I mean, we only were able to see the fallout of it, the important part given what it set up - in a bunch of quick recap flashbacks. Dude, I saw it coming last issue, but still, I facepalmed anyway.
This could have been handled so much better if it had been properly developed. I still wonder if that was who they had in mind all along for Black Beetle or if it came down to the wire and somebody - not necessarily the editorial staff - demanded they set up his origin story before ending the series. I don't know. I'd have almost preferred leaving that thread hanging.
Having said that, everything else was good. Jaime's solution for dealing with the KDRA was - well, it was a crazy idea that was potentially suicidal, which is par for the course. I liked the denouement of that and the train of thought when they were falling. Also, the Ted Kord almost-cameo was adorable.
Damn, it's 10 already. Oops.
Also, why it's taking three weeks for LiveJournal to fix comment tracking is beyond my comprehension. Then again, that's what happens when you cut your staff short. *sigh*

Date: 2009-03-07 01:36 pm (UTC)I wonder now if Hector was really who they had in mind for the Black Beetle, or if it came down to the wire and they went, "Hell, this is the only way we can finish that thread off befor the series ends, isn't it? At least without getting killed by the readers."
