That's it.
You know the other neighbor of mine? The one who actually gives me notice and pays me back and is considerate of my time? I'll call her "Rebecca" here.
So Rebecca calls me tonight. To make a long story short, she has no health insurance, and she gets her meds at the same clinic Bridget does. Her Albuterol DM, which she needs, is at Bridget's aunt's, near the clinic. She can't get it at a pharmacy. She finally gave up and called me when Bridget apparently volunteered me for the drive. Her stepfather will not take her. She's asked him twice, the second time while I was listening in on the phone; from the background screaming response, that was a definite NO. She says she'll pay me gas money, which I believe because she usually DOES.
Now here's the kicker: WHY THE HELL DIDN'T BRIDGET PICK IT UP YESTERDAY? WHY didn't either of them THINK of this?
Am I taking her? Yes, because it's not rush hour. Because she's not Bridget.
I feel like such a freaking sucker.
If you all hear about an accident on the Baltimore Beltway tonight where one of the drivers went after the other one with her Club, well, you'll know why.
But now I really want out of this neighborhood. I know I'm getting tag teamed. God dammit.
Addendum: Got home before 8, told them that I was not doing this again, stormed into my apartment. The phone just rang, and I picked it up.
Guy: "Hi, this is ______ from the Howard County Fire Department. How are you today?"
Me: (promptly) "Ready to hurt something because my neighbors have taken advantage of me for the last time."
Guy: (processing this) "...Oh."
Me: "Could you please just call tomorrow? I'm anything but rational right now."
Guy: (politely, without hesitation) "No problem. Take care." He hung up.
Of course, it occurs to me I really could have scared him into NEVER CALLING AGAIN... but I'm not mad at him right now. Aside from Mom, he was the most understanding human being I have dealt with in the past hour and a half.
Anyway, I have to get back to working on a project that I HAD a couple hours to spare to work on before this whole fiasco started. Bah.
