Friday night website thoughts...
Feb. 27th, 2004 10:10 pmYou know, even though I'm probably going to shut down Yet Another SG-1 Fan Page, this bugs the heck out of me.
To prove to myself I didn't need to keep my site up much longer, I did a Google search for SG-1 transcripts - and boom! One comprehensive SG-1 transcript site for all seasons!
Not a big surprise. But something else DID shock me.
Their transcript of "Children of the Gods?" It was mine, word for word, sans transcriber's notes and disclaimer. Oh, and I noticed that the "1969" and "Out of Mind" transcripts resemble mine as well, down to the weird descriptions. I sent the webmaster a polite e-mail about this problem.
*sigh* I don't want them taken down, I don't want links to my site... but I'd like credit, dammit. This was ripped off way back in 2001 and I only noticed it now. For about 2 years someone else has taken credit for this.
Judge for yourself...
Children of the Gods - Mine - Theirs
1969 - Mine - Theirs
Out of Mind - Mine - Theirs
I guess it's a good thing I decided to review the validity of my subsites, or I'd never have noticed this.
Edit: It gets better. Gateworld.net is now claiming it as their own property.
WHO SUBMITTED MY WORK UNDER THEIR NAME, AND WHERE ARE YOU SO I CAN HURT YOU?
Man, first my apartment gets robbed and now people are stealing credit for my transcripts. I can't win.

Date: 2004-02-28 02:54 am (UTC)I just recently found that twiztv.com was archiving some of my EE transcripts without my knowledge. They at least had the decency to say where they got them from, but still... nobody asked me if they could archive them, so that was rather annoying. Their entire site is built on the hard work of others! What's the point of having something unique on your site, if someone else is just going to swipe it all anyway? [/tangent rant]
