Call me spoiled, but...
May. 31st, 2005 08:12 pm...I really would have preferred a quiet day to get back to the grind after this weekend. Getting sick this morning and going in late anyway because I didn't think it merited a full day off and because I thought it'd look suspicious calling in the whole day after Memorial Day weekend was probably not the best idea. See, when it takes you 10 minutes to come up with a fix and then 30 minutes tracking down data that will currently let me get to the page to test the fix, you know it's going to be an interesting day. Especially when you repeat this process many times for five straight hours. I practically ran out the door before someone could find another defect to throw at me. Gaaah.
Then again, I am grateful that I had the ability to escape at 5 and don't have to wait by the phone in case I have to be called back in at all hours. I like my job, it's not without stressful days, but those days are nothing compared to the usual crap that other employers dole out.
Anyway. Went to visit
blue_soulfire and Mayhem down in Newport News this weekend. Lots of fun, and yes, I am damned amused that we went an hour in the wrong direction before I sat up in the back, blinked, and said, "Wait. Why are we headed for 301 NORTH?" I am only a good navigator when I pay attention. :) I did actually drink a bit, and it is worth noting that I am apparently better at Star Wars Trivial Pursuit while drunk. Go figure.
Unfortunately, as I was reminded as soon as I got to work today and the mortgage lender called me while I was trying to decipher a defect, eat lunch and explain to someone what was happening with a certain case on my end... there's still a lot of insanity to deal with here. Seriously. If you don't see me on IM or hear from me on LJ, I'm trying to get my shit together this week. The big, important stuff that has to be decided on so I can get back to the little things. Like ironing clothes and picking up the apartment.
And it's after 8, and certain people haven't called me back. I need to be in bed early, so I'm going to go be a pain in the ass now.
